Two Red Arrows perform fly past BAE Systems Hawk T1 is the RAF’s advanced training jet, and has been the Red Arrows aircraft of choice since 1979. The Hawk’s Rolls Royce Adour engine gives 5,200lbs of thrust and powers the jet to a top speed of Mach 1.2.

The Red Arrows’ Hawks have a smoke generation system which pumps diesel mixed with coloured dye into the jet exhaust to produce the colourful vapour trails that enhance both visual effect and flight safety. This allows five minutes of white smoke, a minute of red and a minute of blue.
