The job

The RAF depends on the effective running of radar systems to fly its aircraft safely. Aerial Erectors install and maintain ground-based radomes (the protective housing for a radar antenna), complex aerial systems, and fibre-optic cables that form an essential part of those radar systems. You’ll erect aerial masts and install various kinds of aerials, from small microwave dishes to large radio antennae and long cables, at sites in the UK and overseas. The job involves working outdoors and up on high structures. As an Aerial Erector you’ll have to be able to climb and have a good head for heights. The job will also involve a lot of travel.
