Pay after one year: £17,485

Joining age: 16 – 29

Qualifications you need: 2 GCSEs/SCEs at Grade C/3 minimum or equivalent in English language and G/6 in maths. If you want to train as a Dental Hygienist later, you must have 5 GCSEs/SCEs at Grade C/3 minimum or equivalent including English language and a science subject, plus the National Certificate for Dental Nurses or 2 A-levels.

Qualifications you can gain: NVQ Level 3 in dental nursing oral healthcare; National Certificate for Dental Nurses

Nationality: Citizen of the UK or the Republic of Ireland, or a Commonwealth citizen since birth

The job

Dental Nurses provide a second pair of hands in the surgery and are valuable members of the dental surgeon’s team. Dental Nurse training covers a large part of the National Certificate for Dental Nurses syllabus and you’ll be encouraged and assisted to gain this qualification. You’ll be responsible for looking after all the instruments and equipment in the surgery, as well as the smooth running of the surgery itself.
