Andy Holley, the FBHeliservices Chief Pilot at RAF Shawbury, attended the Motor Sports Association’s (MSA) prestigious Night of Champions ceremony on Friday 20 January at the Royal Automobile Club in London, where he collected his JLT MSA Marshal of the Year trophy.
JLT’s Warren Downey presented Holley with his award in front of a 150-strong audience of distinguished guests, including all of the 2011 British motor sport champions.

The JLT MSA Marshal of the Year award is designed to reward excellence among the 12,000-strong team of MSA-registered volunteer marshals, without whom motor sport could not take place.
Andy has become firmly established as a trusted and valued Examining Post Chief, whether at his ‘home’ circuits of Oulton Park and Anglesey, or at any other of the many UK venues at which he marshals.
A highlight of Andy’s marshalling career has been taking responsibility for – and transforming radically – the British Motorsport Marshals Club (BMMC) North Region’s training programme, in his capacity as its Regional Training Manager. He has used his experience as a helicopter pilot instructor at RAF Shawbury to create and manage an operational matrix for the training programmes that is both complex and yet simple to follow, which has enabled hundreds of people to pass smoothly through the training sessions. He is a highly valued member of the BMMC’s North Region Committee, and is also part of the MSA International Training Team.
Andy said: “I was completely stunned when I was told I’d won, as I didn’t even know about the award, let alone that I’d been nominated! I do what I do simply because I love the sport, so I was taken aback to be recognised in this way.”
