Lord Lieutenant Of Lincolnshire's Deployed Forces Reception
On Saturday 21 January Royal Air Force College (RAFC) Cranwell played host to this year’s Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire’s Deployed Forces Reception. Among the 150 guests were Reservists from across the county who had been invited to College Hall in recognition of their service on operations abroad.

“On returning from a tour of duty there is sometimes limited public recognition of the contribution each of you has made and of the sacrifice required to be away from loved ones in such challenging circumstances, “said the Lord Lieutenant. “Many Reservists go straight back to civilian jobs so we, the representatives of Lincolnshire and the Armed Forces, hope that this reception will demonstrate that your efforts, bravery and commitment are both recognised and appreciated.
During the reception guests also remembered those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and those who have suffered injury, both mental and physical. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to their families and loved ones,” added the Lord Lieutenant before a one minute’s silence was marked at the reception.

Among those attending were Squadron Leader Stuart Talton and his personnel from No 7010 (Voluntary Reserve) Photographic Interpretation Squadron RAuxAF. In civilian life Squadron Leader Talton, from Spalding, works at RAF College Cranwell as a Senior Budget Manager. “Reservists’ very much appreciate events such as this, which show that the county and country supports them in what they do,” he said. “It was very nice to see such strong representation from the county and district councils.”
Hosting the event were Mr Tony Worth, the Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire and Air Commodore Paul Oborn, Commandant Royal Air Force College Cranwell. Other guests included Air Chief Marshal Sir Stewart Peach, Commander Joint Forces Command, Mr Robin Battle, High Sherriff of Lincolnshire, Councillor Ian Cartwright, Chairman of North Kesteven District Council; The Right Reverend Christopher Lowson, Bishop of Lincoln along with many other civic dignitaries.
