RAF High Jumper in Action

RAFAA Presidents Perspective

Air Vice-Marshal C P A Evans, QHP MSc MSc MB BCh DAvMed RAF

President, Royal Air Force Athletics Association

President of the RAF Athletics Association Participation in physical activity provides the foundation for individual well-being, underpinned by the statement: a ‘healthy mind in a healthy body’. The Royal Air Force Athletic Association encompasses track and field, cross-country, road running and tug-of-war, and reaches out to athletes, from novice to international standard, coaches, officials and all those who simply enjoy our sport.

I cannot overemphasise the importance that sport plays in our day to day lives. Participation in athletics develops individual self-discipline, concentration and determination as well as promoting fitness and health. The contribution this makes to operational fitness, to Force Development, and to the morale of our people is as vital today as it has always been. And, of course, good performances raise morale, individually and collectively.

This website provides you with an insight to our Association. It provides details of our Committee members, including team managers. It records our performances throughout the season and provides links to other related sites. It is a ‘living’ site and will be updated in as near real-time as possible. It also provides archive material and the history of the Association.

I hope you find this site useful and informative, but above all I hope it inspires you to support Royal Air Force athletics in whatever way you can. I wish you good luck in achieving your sporting goals and those of the wider Service community.
