Aircraft and Equipment

Two helicopter types are operated at RAF Benson - the Merlin HC3 and HC3a operated by 28(AC) Squadron and 78 Squadron, and the Puma HC1 operated by 33 Squadron and 230 Squadron.

No 6 Air Experience Flight and the Oxford University Air Squadron use the Grob Tutor to give basic flying training to local University Air Cadets and Air Cadets of the Air Training Corps and Combined Cadet Forces. Unusually, the Tutor fleet is owned and maintained by civilian companies and carries British civilian G-XXXX registrations under a PFI scheme.

The RAF Benson Flying Club operates a fleet of light aircraft including Cessna 152s, a Slingsby T67C Firefly, a Robin DR400 and a Piper PA28-180 Archer.
