Who is based here?

RAF Benson currently has about 2000 Service personnel Civil Servants working on base, with approximately the same number of civilians and dependents.

Organisation

RAF Benson has four Wings: Base Support Wing, Forward Support Wing, RWOETU & SH STANEVAL Wing and Operations Wing.  

There are four helicopter Squadrons: 28 (AC) Squadron, 78 Squadron, 33 Squadron and 230 Squadron.

Lodger Units 

RAF Benson is home to numerous lodger units which include the Medium Support Helicopter Aircrew Training Facility (MSHATF), the Meteorological Unit, Chiltern Air Support (Police helicopter), Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance, the Support Helicopter Engineering Development & Investigation Team (SHEDIT), Mobile Air Operations Team, Joint Helicopter Force Head Quarters, Oxford University Air Squadron and 6 Air Experience Flight.
