Why we are here

RAF Benson is host to 28 (AC) and 78 Squadrons operating the Merlin helicopter and 33 and 230 Squadrons operating the Puma helicopter. All four squadrons are part of the Joint Helicopter Command, which has united the Support Helicopter assets of all three Services into one joint command. RAF Benson is also host to the modern and highly advanced simulator training facility for the Chinook, Merlin and Puma.
