Why we are here
Our Mission is to generate and sustain an operationally agile Air Command and Control capability while supporting the Search and Rescue activities of 202 Squadron.
RAF Boulmer’s Mission encapsulates the diversity of our activities and this breadth is reflected in the wide geographic spread of the estate. The Station comprises two major sites; the Operations Site is home to the NATO Control and Reporting Centre (CRC) and the School of Aerospace Battle Management; the Domestic Site is where the majority of our administrative and support functions are located, together with the Search and Rescue Sea King Helicopters of ‘A’ Flight 202 Squadron.
The Station is also the hub of the Air Surveillance and Control Systems Force Command, with the Headquarters located on the Operations Site. The Station Commander at RAF Boulmer is also responsible for the generation, sustainment and operational output of the ASACS organisation which comprises a CRC at Boulmer, No 1ACC at Scampton, the Remote Radar Heads at Benbecula, Buchan, Brizlee Wood, Staxton Wold, Neatishead and Portreath together with operational facilities at Aird Uig and Saxa Vord.
Much of the work at Royal Air Force Boulmer entails 24/7 operations and it is hoped that this website will highlight the Station’s pivotal contribution to the operational output of the Royal Air Force.
