Dress Code
The full dress rules for this Mess can be found in the Mess Rules. However the following is a summary
General. Topcoats, headgear, foul and cold weather clothing, umbrellas and briefcases are not to be taken into the Public Rooms nor left in the entrance hall or reception area. Sports wear is not to be worn in or in transit through the Public Rooms: the one exception to this rule is that sports wear may be worn by members passing through the main bar to the casual bar.
Civilian Dress. Normal dress for all public rooms is a minimum of an open-necked long or short sleeve shirt with collar; rugby/polo shirts are acceptable. Trousers may include as a minimum clean, unfaded and whole jeans. However a “Traffic Lights” system is in operation in the Mess Foyer. If the green light is displayed the above rules apply; if either the red or amber signal is displayed then the applicable standard will apply. The lights do not apply when another form of dress (eg Mess Dress) has been ordered.
Working dress, including flying clothing, DPM and olive green dress may be worn in the Mess until 1930.
Ladies’ dress is expected to conform with the spirit of these rules.
