Physical Education

Membership of the gymnasiums at all 3 sites is open to all Service, Civilian and Contractor staff employed at each unit. To become a member, personnel must attend an induction briefing at the facility that they wish to use. Once completed customers will be issued with a membership card and a proximity card, if out of hours access is required. For further information on induction dates, times and membership fees, contact your local facility.

RAF Brampton/Wyton

Both Brampton and Wyton enjoy a wide variety of sports facilities, which includes, soccer and rugby pitches, squash and tennis courts, including an indoor court at Wyton, and multi-use indoor sports halls.

The day-to-day management of the sports facilities at Brampton and Wyton is contracted out to Babcock, with RAF PEd staff retaining overall command and control of the facility.

The main admin office is located at the Hangar 4 Gymnasium at Wyton (01480 52451 Ext 7275).

Babcock staff are responsible for the management of all PEd facilities across both sites, circuit training, gym inductions, personal training programmes and gymnasium memberships.

RAF Henlow

The station has many sporting facilities including an astroturf pitch, tennis courts, sports pitches, two glass-backed squash/racketball courts in the gymnasium complex, circuit training and much more.

The Sports Pavilion incorporates the Sports Bar. The Bar is available for section and personal bookings.

RAF Henlow has its own 25 metre indoor swimming pool which is open Mon – Fri. It is staffed by Babcock employed lifeguards during daytime hours, but from 1800 onwards a number of clubs use the pool for swimming lessons and training. Sections may book the pool for use during working hours so it is advisable to check that the pool is available before setting off. The pool staff can be contacted on 01462 851515 Ext 7099.
