· Phone The Medical Centre Reception on 01462 851515 Ext 7477, or contact the Guardroom on Ext 7432 who also hold contact numbers.
· You will be given a message stating the location and the telephone number of the duty doctor.
· When you phone this number, state that you are a serviceman and provide the duty staff with all your signs and symptoms so they can quickly ascertain the urgency and the best course of action.
· If you are fit to travel, you will probably be required to attend the Duty Doctor’s Surgery, so be prepared to make a journey. You will be seen by the duty doctor and given the appropriate treatment. Otherwise the duty doctor will visit you.
If you are given a prescription it will require to be dispensed at a local chemist. Ensure you complete a FP57 – Receipt and Refund Claim for NHS Prescription Charges, which the chemist will authorize and stamp. This will enable you to reclaim the costs of your prescription via the SMC. Refunds will not be refunded on till receipts.
The SMC will not deal with routine administration matters at lunch times, after 1700hrs and at weekends.
