Welcome to RAF College Cranwell

RAF College Cranwell is home to many of the Royal Air Force’s most prestigious training organisations. Most famous is the Officer and Aircrew Cadet Training Unit where all RAF officers and airmen aircrew are trained to become the leaders of tomorrow. Furthermore, RAF College Cranwell provides the Headquarters for the RAF Recruiting Organisation along with officer and airmen aircrew selection. The training for our recruiters and selectors also takes place here. Not only renowned for its world class ground training the RAF College Cranwell is an extremely busy flying training base. Number 3 Flying Training School delivers the initial flying training for all military pilots and the advanced training of pilots selected for multi-engined aircraft and the rear-crew of all aircraft types. Together with air cadet flying on the Air Experience Flight, this means many sorties are flown daily by our fleet of King Air and Tutor aircraft. Other units that are based here include the Air Cadet Organisation, Central Flying School, Defence College of Aeronautical Engineering, Air Warfare Centre, the bands of the RAF College and the RAF Regiment and other specialist medical, engineering and security organisations. So, the RAF College Cranwell is a diverse and vibrant place with a world-class reputation for training the very best military officers, airmen and aircrew. Of course, none of this would be possible without the vital support staff, many of them civil servants or civilian contractors, who sustain all of these specialist units.
