Brownies

The Brownies are part of the Guiding Organisation for girls aged 7 and 10 years.

The brownie Adventure programme consists of varied activities including arts and craft evenings, baking, playing games, gardening, out door games and obstacle races, theme nights which are educational and fun, external visits and activity badges.

2nd RAF Digby Brownies celebrating 100 years in Guiding

2nd (RAF) Digby Brownies are not to be left out of the celebrations, and have already begun by completing a wide range of activities and challenges to play their part and obtain the Limited Edition Adventure 100 Badge

The Brownies faced a further challenge of a sponsored silence, which was held in order to raise money for the charity “My Father’s House” to help children living in poverty in Brazil. Being quiet for half an hour was indeed a challenge for the girls!!!

The girls managed to raise over £300 which was quickly sent to Brazil and the children had food, new clothes and a Christmas present.

The Brownies have learned about various festivals to receive a World Culture Badge. They made various crafts and cakes for Christmas. The Brownies are involved in making a tapestry to celebrate 100 years in Guiding. Each Brownie had to design a square “as to what Brownies meant to them”.

This month the Brownies played host to Digby rainbows and learnt Scottish dancing for Burns Night, and enjoyed a Scottish Fayre too.

As par of the Challenge 100 the girls will be making buns to go with the tea and coffee to feed 100 people and the proceeds will then be forwarded to My Father’s House in Brazil. So if you would like to take part in the Car Boot sale which will take place at Digby Village Hall on April 17th 9-11am. The cost will be £10 per car, please tel 01526 323351 if you would like a pitch. Various stalls will be held in the Hall. Entrance Fee 50p
