RAFFCA Update Mar 2010

Dear all RAFFCA members,

Just a quick update of what is happening at RAFFCA. At local level, there are some activities happening at local level:

Tradition has had RAFFCA organising a fly-out somewhere every couple of years (Mallorca 2006 and Tempelhof 2008). It is not too late to plan something for this summer, if any of you would like a challenge. Perhaps northern France? Combine it with a cross-channel check, converted into a navigation competition to obtain sports lottery funding, a fly-in into a French airfield and we have an adventure. By the way, to benefit from Sports’ Lottery money, you have to be buying tickets. This is open to all serving and retired personnel. If you are not member, fill in a form and process it locally. A form can be found at http://marhamaeroclub.services.officelive.com/Documents/JPAE015%5b1%5d_Sports_Lottery_NEW.doc%5d. A link from the RAFFCA homepage can also be found.

Other options to subsidised flying is to participate in races (http://www.airraceuk.co.uk/), the “TopNav” competition (http://www.rin.org.uk/general.aspx?ID=365) or the “Dawn to Dusk” challenge (http://www.automatic-button.com/d2d/). Of course, organise as mentioned some sort of challenge (?navigation competition) to a fly-in like Northern France, Benelux, Channel Islands and this will attract funding.

A plea: if your club is organising any fly-in, Exped, touring, competition … that could be of interest to members of other RAF Clubs, please let us know via this e-group and/or the RAFFCA webmaster on http://www.raf.mod.uk/rafflyingclubs/. Have a timed precision landing or something of the sort, with prizes, and RAFFCA could be sponsoring some of it.

Safe flying and I look forward to seeing you up there.

How to publish new events

Please contact the site manager, Chris Edmondson, with as many details as possible along with a JPG image that is at least 556 pixels in width and 131 or more pixels in height - this is for the page header - I will then construct the page and publish it at the earliest opportunity.
