RAF Brize Norton Flying Club

About us

The Club is a Limited Company which first began operating almost 25 years ago with the same 2 ex-CSE Piper Cherokees which are still going strong today. Later we added a Warrior II to our fleet, followed by a second Warrior II some years later.

All ac have now been repainted in our corporate dark blue and gold livery and are a very familiar site in the local Oxfordshire skies. We offer training for the JAR-FCL PPL(A) and the NPPL; the CFI is the GAPAN member of the NPPL Policy and Steering Committee.

The facilities at Brize Norton allow us to offer night qualification and IMC training; we also offer a formation flying training course. Although we no longer offer multi-engine or FI rating training, we have a strong association with On-Track Aviation who offer such courses at Kidlington and Wellesbourne Mountford aerodromes.

RAFFCA Reciprocity

Because some of our costs are recovered from subscription rather than entirely from hire, our hire charges for non-RAF Brize Norton Flying Club RAFFCA members include a supplement of £7 per hour in lieu of any membership charges. We also require that any non-Brize RAFFCA member wishing to fly our PA28s will, on the first occasion, fly a check-out with a FI both to confirm that they are OK and also to acquaint them with our local procedures. ATC don't know who is flying the a/c, hence if it's one of our callsigns they will assume that the pilot knows the rules! After an initial check-out, provided that the pilot has 42 day currency on a PA28, we wouldn't normally require a further check-out on each subsequent occasion that the pilot wishes to hire one of our a/c. Reciprocal membership is available to Full RAFFCA members only; Associate Members who wish to fly our a/c will have to apply for Club membership. Any passengers will have to become temporary members (at no charge), of course, but may not handle the a/c.
