RAF Inter-Station East Midlands Qualifier

Unfortunately only Wyton/Brampton and High Wycombe contested the East Midlands area Inter Station Qualifier at Bar Hill GC in Cambridgeshire on 27 July 09 with Halton, Henlow and Honington unable to muster a team of 6 players. With prolonged rain in the morning and blustery heavy showers in the afternoon, the already wet Bar Hill course played longer and much softer than it would normally do at this time of year. The greens, although rolling reasonably smoothly were on the slow side which made scoring difficult. High Wycombe fielded a strong team of good, solid single figure golfers; however, on paper the Wyt/ Bra team were the favourites being able to field 6 players of below 5 handicap. The results followed the form with Billy Macleod, Ian Robinson, Richard Lushington and Stu Halliday of Wyt/Bra scoring respectably which was only matched by Steph Usher from High Wycombe. In the end, the margin of victory of 55 shots indicated an easy victory for Wyt/Bra who progress through to the finals at Sleaford in September as, perhaps, one of the favourites and keen to win back the trophy they narrowly lost to Brize Norton last year.  See Results
