Senior Aircraftman Chris Boosey, 26 from Southend in Essex joined the RAF in 2002 after completing his GCSEs and AS Levels. He attended judo training sessions for a couple of years when he was about 9 years old but did not continue with it until recently when he saw a poster advertising a local judo club. He went along, really enjoyed it, and later joined a second club. Chris then investigated judo in the RAF and discovered the RAF Judo Association. He attended his first RAF event in May 2009 and is currently a red belt. Just 3 months into his judo ‘career’, Chris was paired with a black belt during a training session and was somewhat elated and overwhelmed when he successfully swept his legs from under him! Chris hopes to become more involved with the RAF Judo Association and aims to represent the RAF one day soon.
