Prince's Trust Activities

Personnel from RAF Leuchars are currently involved with the Prince’s Trust in a number of ways. As part of the 12-week Team Programme development courses the Prince’s Trust operates in the Fife and Tayside area, the Station will look to host a number of 1-day visits each year to show those on the programme what life in the Royal Air Force is typically like. It is also hoped that those that show a specific interest in the Armed Forces could undertake a 2-week placement in a specific section on the Station.

As well as bringing young people onto the Station, it is hoped that a number of personnel would look to involve themselves in the Team Programmes themselves, either as Team Leader for the full 12-weeks or as Employed members, taking part for 4-weeks of the course (providing they can be released from their primary duty).

Individuals may also look to volunteer as Personal Mentors, encouraging and assisting young people to plan and take steps towards to achieve a goal, move towards employment, training or education opportunities, whilst developing their own counselling and management skills. The mentoring scheme is currently being piloted in Fife and is not being expanded until the results of the pilot are known.
