Where is Linton on Ouse?
Linton-on-Ouse is located 10 miles east of the A1, 5 miles west from the A19 (York road), and 6 miles northeast from the A59 (Harrogate road). Linton-on-Ouse is close to popular tourist spots such as York, where you can visit world-class museums, historic buildings and art galleries. There are quaint pubs, chic cafĂ© bars and restaurants to relax and take in the atmosphere of an attractive, vibrant, modern city in the shadow of the beautiful ancient York Minster. The city also has cinemas, theatres and nightclubs for endless entertainment. Thirsk, Ripon and Harrogate are a short journey from Linton and each holds a charm of its own. A little further a-field, but still within an easy travelling time are: Leeds, Sheffield’s Meadow Hall, Manchester or The Metro Center Gateshead – all great for shopping trips or fun days out with the family
Visitors to RAF Linton on Ouse
Expected visitors arriving at RAF Linton-on-Ouse should report immediately to the Main Guardroom, Passes & Permits Office to book in and collect visitor passes.
Parking While Booking In
All vehicles approaching the Control of Entry point should drive into the left lane and use the temporary parking area before booking in.
Booking In Procedures
All visitors are required to produce 2 forms of UK recognised identification when booking in, with at least 1 form of photo-ID (a current passport, new style UK driving licence, etc).
Details of the person being visited/met or the place being visited, along with any documents related to the visit, should be provided to assist the Main Guardroom staff in verifying the visitors are allowed access to RAF Linton-on-Ouse. Casual visitors need to be escorted at all times whilst on the Station by an authorized sponsor (Service person, MOD civil servant or adult dependent), who should arrange to meet their visitors at the Main Gate.
Group Visits
Groups visiting RAF Linton-on-Ouse for specific visits, events or activities should be booked in advance by the authorized person at Linton-on-Ouse arranging the visit/activity. Full details of the visit, including a list of all visitors, should be forwarded to the Passes & Permits Clerk and the SSyO at least 5 working days prior to the visit.
Searches On Entry
Visitors should note there may be a requirement to be searched prior to entering the unit. In the event that anyone refuses permission for these searches, then access to the unit will be denied.
