The largest and busiest fast-jet base in the Royal Air Force.

RAF Lossiemouth is home to Nos 12, 617 and XV (R) Squadrons, 5 Force Protection Wing Headquarters comprising Nos 51 Squadron RAF Regiment and 2622 (Highland) Squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force Regiment and the Search and Rescue helicopters of ‘D’ Flight, 202 Squadron.

The Station is large and very busy and although newcomers can be assured of a warm reception, the sheer size of the Station and the widely dispersed families estate, can appear daunting to those who have not lived and worked here before. RAF Lossiemouth’s ability to generate and maintain an efficient and effective operational capability is dependant on the contribution of all Service personnel working together as a cohesive team. To that end, all personnel are encouraged to take time to enjoy the plethora of sporting and leisure activities available both on the Station and in the surrounding areas. Outdoor pursuits are particularly well catered for, including: golf, fishing, skiing, hill-walking and mountaineering to name a few.
