A. You can look on the British Forces Post Office website at http://www.bfpo.org.uk/ and register for their e-bluey facility. This facility will enable you to write a letter on an e-mail facility online and it will be printed as a letter at the recipients location. |

Q. Can I purchase any RAF memorabilia from the Station? |
A. I am afraid we are unable to supply memorabilia or rank badges for current or past uniforms. You might find what you are looking for in the Classified Adverts in RAF News at http://www.rafnews.co.uk/ or through the RAF Museum at Hendon at www.rafmuseum.org.uk http://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/. |

Q. Who do I contact in the event of a suspected UFO sighting? |
A. The MOD maintains a register of unusual or unexplained aerial sightings. If you are concerned by anything you have seen in the skies in North Wiltshire, please contact the Duty Operations Controller on 01249 896536 (24hr). You will be asked a series of quite specific questions, so it is best if you make first contact as soon as possible after witnessing the event. The form that the Duty Operations Controller has to fill in with you takes about 5 minutes to complete. It is then sent to the MOD in London. We regret there is sometimes little, if anything, we can explain to you about the occurrence at the time, and there may be some activities we are unable to discuss in detail with you. However, the majority of such sightings do have a simple explanation, so we will tell you what we can. |

Q. How do I arrange a visit to RAF Lyneham? |
A. The faesability of visits taking place is depenedent upon current policy. It is not always possible to accommodate individuals or groups due to the high operational tempo and the resultant necessity to prioritise output. Q. I have my date for OASC/IOT - Can I visit RAF Lyneham before I go? |
A. We run one visit each month for potential Officer /Airmen candidates. The purpose of the visit is to allow candidates to better understand the output of a typical RAF Station so they are better prepared for selection. Q. Can I do work experience at RAF Lyneham? |
A. The Station work experience programme for all students will cease after June 2011 as the Squadrons/sections are transferring to RAF Brize Norton. This is due to the planned closure of RAF Lyneham by 2012. If you have left compulary secondary education (eg. you are currently at 6th Form or College), you are not eligable for the work experience scheme. We suggest that if you want to speak to someone about any aspect of careers in the RAF, please call our careers advice line on 0845 605 5555, between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., 7 days a week or check out the RAF Careers website at: www.raf.mod.uk/careers/. Alternatively, why not visit your local Air Force Careers Office (AFCO). The closest AFCO to RAF Lyneham is Bristol. |
