RESPONSIBILITIES & COMPOSITION

Operations Wing is responsible for the co-ordination and control aspects of the Station flying task. (The Wing's mission could be described as providing effective support to the flying task). This includes provision of all the airfield facilities, and support services for not only the C130 Hercules fleet, but also the many civil and military aircraft, of many nationalities, that are handled by RAF Lyneham.

The Wing is made up of a number of very diverse specialist sections and squadrons, namely:

• Hercules Force Headquarters (HFHQ)
• Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) Support Squadron
• Operations Squadron
• Operations Support Squadron
• Flying Standards and Evaluation (STANEVAL)
• B Flight, 206(R) Squadron
• Meteorological Office
• Defence Fire Service
