IX Squadron Association

The IX Sqn Association was formed in 1975 by Jim Brookbank, a former IX Sqn Lancaster Bomb Aimer

In the 1960s and 1970s a number of ex-IX Sqn WW II veterans got together and organised loose reunions in London. Of note was the successful reunion at the RAF Club, Piccadilly in the autumn of 1966. In 1972, Jim Brookbank sent out a mail-shot to all known ex-IX Sqn WW II veterans and there was great enthusiasm for a IX Sqn Association to be formed.

The first Committee consisted of Jim Brookbank, Ron Goebel, Norman Sirman, George Pocock and Norman Wells.

Association Presidents included Charles (WC) Cooper, Ron Dick, Alfie Ferguson and the current President is Stu Peach.

Association Secretaries included Norman Sirman, Bill Toomey, Brian Owen, David Higgs, Paul Lenihan and the current Secretary is Dick James.

Spike Milligan is the current IX (B) Sqn Association Chairman. The Association holds a yearly re-union at RAF Marham.
