RAF Marham pull together for Comic Relief 2007
Friday 16 March was once a gain a busy day at Royal Air Force Marham, with a number of events taking place in support of Comic Relief Red Nose Day. Ranging from a tornado pull, chest waxing and ladies selling muffins.
Under a clear blue sky, the tornado pull was the first event to take place with the25th Anniversary jet weighing in at staggering 17 tonne. 26 willing volunteers including Group Captain Phil Osborn, Station Commander, Wing Commander (Padre) Andrew Turner and other members from the Blue Bull Radio Station and the Communication and Information Systems Squadron pulled the GR4 tornado over 300 metres.
The pull raised over £800 and Flight Lieutenant Ray Marr, the event organizer said “It was a chance remark in the Station’s Radio Management Meeting “wouldn’t it be great to pull a Tornado for Comic Relief”. Consequently, the rest is history and we achieved our aim to raise over £500”.
Muffin Sales
Mrs Bianca Frost and Mrs Ali Rennie from Secretarial Services sold over 400 hundred chocolate and blueberry muffins today, making over £460 pounds towards Comic Relief.. Mrs Bianca Frost, the coordinator of this event said “It’s been a real success, and we would like to thank everyone for all their generous donations and support”.

MT Chest Wax
Corporals Al Hanrahan and Carl Mitchell from Mechanical Transport Flight, today volunteered to have their chests waxed in aid of Comic Relief. Mrs Nicky Everett, Mrs Maria Secenters and Mrs Vicky Stephenson had the grueling task of waxing.
Cpl Al Hanrahan said “This shouldn’t be happening”. After another strip of wax had been pulled from his chest his commented “It’s not as bad as I expected it to be, and it is for a good cause, but I won’t be doing this again in a hurry”.
Over £160 was raised.
