What a ‘GEM’ – Peter receives a GEMS Award for his innovative Idea

Mr Peter Wilkinson, from Narborough, has been working at RAF Marham Mechanical Transport Section for 11 years. He was presented with a GEM’s Award certificate on 16 April 2007 in recognition of a successful suggestion resulting in benefits to RAF Marham. Peter is one of the few civilian employees at RAF Marham to have received such a prestigious award, one that recognises his achievements.

Mr Wilkinson came up with the idea to design and construct, a Star and Pendant Plate Holder for the Station Commander’s car. The previous pendant holder was causing damage to the vehicle and, with Peter’s fortitude in implementing this new design has helped improve the standard of service to his VIP duties.

Flight Lieutenant Lee Ashcroft, Officer Commanding Mechanical Transport Section said “It is a great honour for me to have supported the recommendation of this GEMS award. Mr Wilkinson has demonstrated a great deal of initiative in producing his idea and, shown excellent commitment and dedication to the RAF in pushing it through to be implemented on Station.
