RAF Marham Padre runs the London Marathon

RAF Marham Padre runs in the London Marathon

RAF Marham Padre Kevin Capelin-Jones, will be running in the London Marathon in aid of the RAF Association. In his work he liaises closely with RAFA and knows of the great service they provide to both serving and retired personnel.

He was nominated to run this years marathon by his predecessor Padre Eddie Wynn who ran in last years event. Running is not totally new to Kevin, he previously ran the Reading Marathon, though he is quick to point out that that was more than a decade ago!

Friends , colleagues and parishioners are sponsoring him and has so far raised £1,000 but hoping to increase his total to £1,500. Kevin is eager to complete the route with a timing of four and a half hours. Fingers crossed!!

There will be a live link-up with his parishioners at the Service on Sunday, so not totally getting out of doing his duties, Kevin will phone in his progress to Padre Andrew Turner.

Kevin said "To compete in the London Marathon has always been one of my ambitions, and to be able to do so and raise money for RAFA is great. Having been nominated by my predecessor, Padre Eddie, if I find it hard going, he'll be getting all my grief!"

Kevin, 33, hails originally from Lewes, Sussex and has been training during his lunch hour, running around the perimeter track at RAF Marham where the wind tends to follow you whatever direction you are going. With tornado jets taking off and landing all around him we are hoping that our Rev Kev will be going supersonic on Sunday.

If you'd like to sponsor Padre Kevin, please send a cheque, payable to 'RAFA' to the Chaplaincy Centre, RAF Marham, King’s Lynn, Norfolk, PE33 9NP or log on to www.justgiving.com/revkev.
