Sgt Kev Miles was born in Fareham, Hants but spent much of his early life at RAF Uxbridge because his father was a pianist in RAF Music Services. He started playing drums at the age of seven and has studied with Bernard Baker and one of the great British Big Band drummers, Bobby Orr amongst others!
He 'joined up' in 1992 and was posted to The Central Band of the Royal Air Force after training. After a brief six month spell with The Band of the Royal Air Force College based at RAF Cranwell in 1993, it was back to The Central Band of the Royal Air Force where he has been ever since. Kev has featured as a soloist in every major concert hall in the UK as well as overseas tours with the band, one of the highlights being a six week coast to coast tour of the USA.
He feels extremely lucky to be the kit player with the Squads, a position he has held for fourteen years. Kev was given the leadership of the band in the summer of 2007.
