PHYSICAL EDUCATION FLIGHT INFO
Location
The Physical Education Flight is situated on the main road between the Officers' Mess and the MGR. The Main Facility houses the Sports Hall, the Astro Turf, 2 squash courts and an extensive Aerobic Health Suite and Weights Bay. We also have a variety of grass pitches behind the Flight and 2 Tennis Courts (hard) behind the MGR (off-base) and to the rear of the married quarters near the SPA Shop.
Services
The PEd Staff conduct RAFFT at 1100hrs Tuesdays through Thursdays (no booking required) with remedial counselling being conducted as appropriate. General Fitness training programmes may be sought at any time during the normal working day. The Flt also offer Over 50yrs RAFFT Ergometer Testing, Body Mass tests and FitLynx inductions, all of which personnel must pre-book on Ext 7375.
The Stn boasts a wide range of sports clubs administered by Stn OICs (POC list available in the PEd Flight) and in addition, an extensive sports store, for the use of all authorised members, is open throughout the normal working day within the PEd Flt.
All the necessary paperwork for JSATC Courses is held in the Flight and SNCO PEd Flt will advise on the management and organisation of Major and Minor Expeds for Stn personnel - Ext 7260.
Compulsory PT is now in operation at the Stn and all personnel must take part, please contact your section PTL for details.
Swimming Lessons are carried out on Wednesdays at 0830hrs in the Stn Pool, please book Ext 7375 (see swimming pool info for more details on the pool).
Eligibility and Authorisation
All Service Personnel and their dependants over the age of 16years are entitled to use the Sports facilities, although children over 16yrs must be supervised by authorised adults when using the facilities. Children under the age of 16yrs must not be allowed access unless taking part in an authorised club's activities. Civilians (employed by the MOD) and their dependants may also use the facilities with the same constraints. Other civilians may use the facilities (excluding the Health Suite and Weights Bay) as members of authorised clubs only.
The PEd Staff conduct inductions and SHEF briefs at 1700hrs on Tuesdays and 1200hrs on Thursdays, all users (without exception) must attend an induction and sign the SHEF orders for the sports facilities.
After Hours Use
Access can be gained to the sports facilities after normal working hours by authorised personnel in possession of a swipe card. However personnel who are authorised to use the facilities must not allow unauthorised persons and particularly children under the age of 16yrs to enter the facilities.
