Camping Barn
Sleeping rough never felt so good
The RAF Spadeadam 'Camping Barn' is available to MOD-sponsored groups on adventurous and other training. The Camping Barn provides flexible, but basic facilities and consists of 2
large rooms (12 beds & 13 beds) and 2 smaller rooms (3 beds & 2 beds), a total of 30 beds with separate male and female shower and toilet facilities.
This configuration caters for small and large mixed groups and allows youth groups and adult staff to be accommodated in the same building whilst remaining segregated.
The Camping Barn is very popular with many groups making return visits. RAF Spadeadam is ideally located for access to Hadrian’s Wall, only a 5 minute drive, and the Lake District National Park, an hour away. Local fells and crags appeal to those wanting to go walking or climbing and Keilder Water reservoir is regularly used for sailing. The many miles of forest tracks around the unit also provide an excellant opportunity for mountain biking. RAF Spadeadam has a limited amount of AT equipment (canoes, mountain bikes, walking and climbing equipment) that can, depending upon availability and by prior arrangement, be loaned out. Station personnel can also assist with planned activities, but this must be by prior arrangement.
The use of the Camping Barn attracts a small fee to cover running costs, there is a “per person per night” rate and a group rate is available for sole use of the facility. Occupants are expected to provide their own bedding or sleeping bags and the building is to be left in a clean and tidy condition.
Prices:
£4.50 per person, per night
£87.50 per night for sole use of the facility
