Border Reivers Half Marathon

THE BORDER REIVERS HALF MARATHON 2010

The Border Reivers Half Marathon took place at RAF Spadeadam on 27 October 2010. The event attracted 87 runners from military units as well as various civilian organizations and running clubs. The race was started by the RAF Spadeadam Station Commander, Wg Cdr Davis. After the first 2 miles on tarmac the race moved onto the forest tracks for approximately 10 miles before returning to the road for the last mile. The course is undulating and not without challenge, there are however superb views over the fells in the latter stages off the race, although not all runners were in a condition to appreciate the scenery.

This annual event takes place with the permission of the Station Commander, RAF Spadeadam. The generous support of our sponsors Carlisle and District RAFA help to ensure that the race continues to go from strength to strength. Many people helped to make the day such a success, the Physical Education Flight, catering staff, marshals, time-keepers, all much appreciated and hopefully available to help again next year.
