The Entry Form is to be completed and returned with entrance fees to reach the Asst Hon Sec, Flt Lt E A Price, by Mon 6 Jul 09. Late entries will be placed on a reserve list and will only be included if a vacancy arises.
Dress
Competitors must observe an acceptable standard of dress, both on and off court, throughout the Championships. Coloured clothing specifically designed for tennis is considered acceptable at the RAF TC. Only shoes specifically intended for tennis are to be worn on court during the championships. Running shoes, cross trainers and ridged trainers are not to be worn. Additionally, shoes are to have non-marking soles. For play in the Air Dome at the RAF TC separate exclusive footwear should be brought. Tennis shoes that have been previously used outside are not to be worn unless they have been meticulously cleaned.
Discipline
Standards of behaviour both on and off court must not give rise to offence. In particular on court manners must be exemplary. The Tournament Referee and, when appointed, match umpires will apply the LTA Code of Conduct which may lead to disqualification. Such instances are automatically reported to Unit Commanders for further action as appropriate.
Timings
Competitors will be disqualified if absent when required to play; only in exceptional circumstances will this rule be waived.
Each match for Men’s and Ladies competitors will be the best of 3 tie-break sets. Veterans will play 2 tie-break sets followed by a championship tie-break (first to 10 points by 2 clear points).
The Slazenger or Head ball will be provided for play in the Championships.
Any event may be reduced or cancelled at the discretion of the Tournament Committee.
Play at the RAF TC will be on outdoor synthetic grass or hard courts or indoor acrylic, as decided by the Referee.
Inter-Station Competition
Each unit may enter up to two pairs for the RAF and RAF Women’s Inter-Station Doubles Championships respectively, although if more than one pair is entered the composition of the pair must remain the same in each round. Where only one pair is entered a different pair may be used in each round. Players representing UK units in these events are entitled to claim travel allowance for the return journey between parent units and the RAFTC Halton under the terms of QR (RAF) 2484.
Competitors' entries are accepted on the basis that they will assist with umpiring when invited to do so.
