RAFVA CONSTITUTION AND STRATEGY
BACKGROUND
1. Formed in 1985, the RAF Volleyball Association has 25 years of success in delivering top level representative performances in: English national civilian leagues; international military tournaments; Crown and Inter Service competitions; and more generally in the public eye during participation in events and activities that increase the visibilty of the RAF through sport.
2. Considerable success on the court has raised RAFVA's profile and, with significant sponsorship from the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) now available, opportunities have increased to build on that success to develop wider participation in volleyball and promote the Service and RAFA through better defined strategy.
CONSTITUTION
3. The RAFVA constitution, mandated by the RAF Sports Board, has a primary objective to promote the efficiency of the RAF by providing opportunities for service men and women to participate in the sport of volleyball, thereby encouraging physical fitness. To attain this primary objective, the subsidiary objectives of the Association are:
- To raise the playing standard of volleyball in the RAF.
- To advise Commanders-in-chief on matters concerning volleyball.
- To promote and administer tournaments within the RAF.
- To promote and administer teams to represent the RAF at Inter-Service and other events.
- To train volleyball officials and coaches to the highest possible standard.
- To act as a central body for advice, control and appeal on matters concerning volleyball within the RAF.
STRATEGY
4. Against these objectives, the three basic strands of the RAFVA Stategy are:
- Deliver the best possible RAF Volleyball representative teams and appropriately qualified and respected officials.
- Develop the supporting structures, processes and activities that encourage the widest possible RAF participation in volleyball and build capability and capacity for the future.
- Promote the reputation and image of the RAF and its partners at every opportunity.
EXEC COMMITTEE
5. The RAFVA Exec Committee is the enabling body through which the strategy is delivered to meet the objectives set by the Constitution. The Committe comprises:
