The Royal Air Force Waddington International Air Show

Royal Air Force Waddington personnel volunteer over 40,000 man-hours each year to stage the International Air Show on behalf of the Air Force Board.

Preparation begins months before the event and all Station personnel are involved throughout the weekend, engaged in activities as diverse as crash response and policing to crowd control and litter collection, in order to ensure in excess of 125,000 attendees have a safe and enjoyable time.

The event engenders a tremendous amount of goodwill in the community and is highly beneficial to local businesses. The 2006 event raised a staggering £171,000 for charity. This enabled the Station to donate £73,000 to the Royal Air Force Association and £73,000 to the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, making Royal Air Force Waddington one of the most significant Station contributors to these organisations.

A further £25,000 will be allocated to the Station Charities Committee for disbursement to local charities which may be as diverse as youth organisations, hospitals and educational projects.
