Corporal Lee Barnes
Lee is a Mechanical Technician and flies with Red 6, Flight Lieutenant Ben Plank. This is his first year on Circus.
Age - 30
Education - Lee attended Secondary School at Cheadle Hulme School in Stockport. A Registered Engineer, Lee is currently studying towards an HND in Mechanical Engineering with Blackburn College, Lancashire.
Career - Having sampled a variety of jobs from pizza delivery to ice cream salesman, Lee decided to join the RAF in 1998. His first posting was to RAF Coningsby before returning to RAF Cosford for further training.
Lee went on to serve 8 years on 13 Sqn, working on the Tornado GR4 at RAF Marham. As well as 7 operational tours in support of Op Telic, Lee has enjoyed detachments to various countries including North America, Canada, Spain, Germany, France, Belgium, the Czech Republic, and Gibraltar.
Lee joined the Red Arrows in January 2010.
Background - Originally from Stockport, Lee is a member of the RAF and Great Britain Natural Track Ice Luge Team. In his spare time, Lee enjoys watching motorbike racing and riding motorbikes. Lee lives near Lincoln with his partner Emma and their daughter Millie.
