Central & East Region RAF Air Cadets are delighted to unveil their new Regional Badge. The Badge has been created by the College of Arms, using ideas from cadets in the Region, and has been approved by Garter King of Arms, Inspector of Royal Air Force Badges.
The Motto is TOGETHER WE RISE. The blazon (official description in heraldic language) is: On a Roundel per pale Vert and barry wavy Argent and Azure a Viking helmet Sable winged and issuant from a Saxon crown Or.
The parti-coloured roundel alludes to the area in which Central and East Region RAFAC operates, its coast and hinterland. The Viking helmet is a reference to the Viking Danelaw and the Saxon crown is a reference to the English Mercia to the west of the Region. The eleven edge feathers on each wing of the Viking helmet represent the eleven counties that the Region encompasses.
Group Captain Dave Boreham, Regional Commandant Central & East said “I am delighted that the Region has been able to obtain an official Badge from the College of Arms. The new Badge will now be used on all official communications. The motto “Together We Rise” was chosen to reflect the merging of Air Training Corps and Combined Cadet Force (RAF) units within the Region. This is a great step forward in the Region’s identity and something that I believe all Wings, Units, Volunteers and Cadets can align behind. I would like to say a sincere thank you to our outgoing Region Media Officer, Sqn Ldr James Miles, who has done such a fantastic job over the last 18 months leading with the design, management, coordination and implementation of the new badge - well done James.”
