BBMF visitor centre guide achieves 25 years of voluntary service to the flight

On Tuesday 9 May 2023 OC BBMF, Squadron Leader Mark ‘Suggs’ Sugden, presented BBMF Visitor Centre Guide Terry Hancock with a certificate for 25 years of service as a volunteer guide. Terry was once a National Service Air Traffic Control Assistant in the RAF in Aden, subsequently serving for many years with the Royal Observer Corps.

Terry is a published author with books on subjects such as Lincolnshire wartime airfields, he has been a keen aircraft modeller and is a real expert on all aspects of military aviation. In recent times he has also volunteered with the International Bomber Command Centre in Lincoln, helping to research and digitize Bomber Command aircrew logbooks and photos.

Terry is now 86 years old and still conducting guided tours in the BBMF hangar at RAF Coningsby. During his 25 years as a volunteer guide at the BBMF Visitor Centre Terry has hosted thousands of visitors on tours of the BBMF hangar, telling the stories of history of the Flight’s aircraft and the human stories of those who flew them or the aircraft they represent in wartime. OC BBMF was delighted to present Terry with his certificate for 25 years of voluntary service in support of the Flight.
