The annual Balmoral Show is one of the most popular events in Northern Ireland. First held in 1855 before the showgrounds at Balmoral were purchased and works completed to hold the 1896 show. Over 150 years later, the show is just as popular, attracting many visitors with something for everyone to enjoy.
This year the RAF Falcons were delighted to be part of the amazing line-up. A poignant year as they celebrate their 60th Anniversary.
“It was amazing to meet the fantastic crowd at The Balmoral Show in Northern Ireland. The team were so relieved the weather improved whilst we were airborne, enabling us to perform one of the final 60th Anniversary displays of the 2021 season. Until next year!”
Sergeant James Bruce
Team Coach RAF Falcons
Due to COVID restrictions, the show was cancelled in 2020; 2021 was to be the year things started to get back to normal and the RAF Falcons were delighted to be part of this amazing 4-day show.
With blue skies and the prestigious red, white and blue canopies, the RAF Falcons brought the show to an exhilarating end with their 60th Anniversary Carousel Display to the delights of the crowds.
Once the team had landed safely in the arena, Honorary Air Commodore Alastair Finlay took the salute from Officer Commanding, Flight Lieutenant Chris Wilce.
“It was an honour to be able to display into the main arena of the Balmoral Show in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. The reception the team received from the event organisers and the public alike was fantastic and we really do hope to celebrate with everyone again in 2022.”
