Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Mike Wigston, has today been announced as the Ministry of Defence’s Patron of the Women in Defence Charter.

The Women in Defence Charter was launched in September 2019 to improve gender balance in the Defence sector, both public and private. More than 50 organisations, including the Royal Air Force, have committed to drive inclusion and diversity throughout their workplaces, providing fair opportunities for women to succeed at every level. The Charter’s primary aim is to enable women to thrive in Defence whether they are military or civilian, enhancing their individual and collective impact and in doing so, improving defence’s overall output.
