With an impressive history and aircraft flown including the Lancaster, Vulcan, Canberra and Tornado, the Squadron re-formed at RAF Lossiemouth in 2019 as a Typhoon Aggressor and QRA Squadron, providing first-class, specialist adversary training to frontline units.

The Squadron has also deployed to an arctic exercise in Norway and conducted Baltic air policing in Estonia alongside the German Air Force.

“I am extremely proud of all the incredible people serving on IX(B) Squadron who have worked exceptionally hard to get the Squadron to be certified Multi-Role Combat Ready. It has been fantastic watching the Squadron grow and gain a variety of operational experience, and having our Chief of the Air Staff declare us Multi-Role Combat Ready here on operations in Romania has been a highlight of my time in Command.”
