Squadron Leader George Leonard 'Johnny' Johnson, last member of the "Dambusters" passes away

The RAF is saddened to learn of the death of Squadron Leader George Leonard ‘Johnny’ Johnson, the last remaining member of the legendary 617 Squadron “Dambusters” raid on the Eder, Sorpe and Mohne dams during World War Two.

A true hero, Johnny Johnson was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire by Her Majesty in 2017 and celebrated his 100th birthday last year.
