Freedom of Richmond Parade

This year the RAF Regiment celebrates its 80th Anniversary since formation on 1 Feb 1942. As part of these celebrations 2 FP Wg participated in the Freedom of Richmond parade on 1 Jul 22, which also celebrates the 51st anniversary since this honour was bestowed. As part of the event we were also able to re-dedicate the Freedom of Richmond Sword to Richmond council.

Wg Cdr Wiseman, OC 2 FP Wg, proudly hosted Baroness Angela Harris, Madame Mayor Ann Brewer, Lord Lieutenant Deputy for North Yorkshire Mr Nigel Corner, AVM Mick Smeath and Gp Capt Jason Sutton.

“It was a pleasure for 34 Sqn to represent the RAF Regt on exercising our Freedom of Richmond. The Parade was a great opportunity to engage with the local community around Richmond and develop the relationship between the town and RAF LEEMING”
