THE SQUADRON

No. 2 RAF Police Counter Intelligence Squadron has a broad range of elements and capabilities based across the UK. Their function is to detect, identify and understand threats to Air capabilities from across all environments, throughout the continuum of conflict. This capability enables the RAF to retain and sustain the information advantage against threats posed by Hostile Intelligence Services, or by individuals who pose a security threat through vectors such as terrorism, espionage, sabotage, subversion and organised crime.

The Squadron Headquarters is based at RAF Honington.

BASED AT

WHAT WE DO

RAF Police Counter Intelligence personnel are aligned to specific Air and Space capabilities from the F-35 and Typhoon to ISTAR and Air Mobility Fleet. The operate discreetly, gathering information on the threat to the RAF’s people and platforms, either in the UK or overseas. This intelligence formulates the development of threat assessments that support commanders’ decision making. The Squadron also comprises Counter Intelligence Investigators who are able to act on intelligence reporting to determine the severity of potential breaches and take actions to mitigate any compromise. The Squadron works closely with partners and allies to understand where and when our people may be vulnerable, and both disrupt the threat and protect our people.
