RAF Brize Norton has four two-bedroom, four three-bedroom contact / welfare houses and one disabled access bungalow.

The accommodation is booked using a priority system and can be used for welfare, child access and family visits.

Medical centre

The David Stone Medical Centre is for service personnel, and those dependents who live within the confines of RAF Brize Norton.

Opening times: Monday to Friday, 8am to 6:30pm

Closed on weekends and Bank Holidays.

The Dental Centre provides dental treatment for entitled personnel:

  • Uniformed Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, and Army personnel, entitled FTRS and RAuxAF.
  • Foreign exchange personnel

The Dental Centre does not offer treatment to the families of Service personnel.

Solicitor Service

A free 30 minute consultation with a local solicitor is available to all Station personnel and dependants. The service is run fortnightly.

Mortgage Advice

A free one-to-one consultation with a qualified independent mortgage advisor.

Citizens Advice Outreach Service

A confidential, impartial, free and independent service is available for service personnel and spouses by appointment to assist with a wide range of queries or problems inc. housing, benefits, finances and family issues.

RAF Brize Norton’s dedicated Citizens Advice caseworker, Julie Rogers is available Tuesdays and Thursdays 10am to 1pm.

SSAFA - The Armed Forces Charity

SSAFA Personal Support & Social Work Service RAF (PS&SWS RAF) is contracted by the RAF to provide welfare support to all serving personnel (regular and reserves) and their families. Our team of specialist Personal & Family Support Workers and Social Workers are located on stations in the RAF community throughout the UK.

Our service is confidential and independent from the Chain of Command. It is the aim of our service to support you to enhance personal welfare, maintain family stability and empower you to access the support networks you are entitled to.

Our service can support you with a range of issues including addiction & dependency, child support, financial, housing, mental health, personal support, physical health and relationships.

Anyone, regular, reserve or dependent, can refer themselves to SSAFA. You can contact our service by any of the ways below;

Sports

STATION GYM

The gym has a fitness suite and classes.

You can join the Station gym if you are a dependent of a member of RAF personnel but you'll need to apply for RAF ID if you want to use the gym and sports facilities unaccompanied by RAF personnel.

The Gym is open on a 24hr per day basis, although you must be a member to gain access.

Brize Norton Swimming Pool

A 25 meter non-public swimming pool is open to all personnel and families, who join the RAF Brize Norton Sports Club.

Astra Bowl

Astra Bowl is open for all Service Personnel during the day, evenings or at weekends subject to lane availability. A bar is also on site, which helps to fund the facility.

Social

Bars and Cafes

The bars and cafés on the Station are open to dependants of RAF personnel. You'll need to ask your spouse or partner to apply for RAF ID for you if you want to use them unaccompanied by RAF personnel.

The Common Room

The Common Room is located in the heart of the Junior Ranks’ Village. It is an All Ranks facility until 7pm, so everyone is welcome until then, after which it becomes a Junior Ranks only facility.

The Common Room also features the Lounge Café Bar and the weekly nightclub, every Thursday.

Lounge and bar opening times:

  • Monday to Friday, 8am to 2pm and 6pm to 11pm (7pm to 11pm Junior Ranks Only)
  • Saturday, midday to 2pm and 7pm to 10pm (7pm to 10pm Junior Ranks Only)
  • Sun day, midday to 10pm (7pm to 10pm Junior Ranks Only)

The Spotlight Club opening times: Thursday, 9:30pm to 1am (Junior Ranks Only)

All the above facilities are all contained within the same building. The building is colloquially known as the ‘Spotlight Club’ and incorporates the Lounge Café and Bar, The Spotlight 'Night' Club, and the Costcutter shop.

Astra Bowl

RAF Brize Norton’s Astra Bowl is the available for use by all service personnel.

Families Club

This social club caters for Service personnel and their dependants.

Other facilities

Costcutter (Terminal)

The Air Terminal Costcutter shop stocks daily essentials.

Opening times are displayed outside the shop.

Costcutter (Domestic Site)

The Costcutter shop is open for all Station Personnel to use and is located adjacent to The Common Room.
