Change of Command at No. 99 Squadron

On the 1st October 2021, Wing Commander Kevin Latchman officially handed over the title, 'Officer Commanding Number 99 Squadron', to Wing Commander Will Essex.

“Squadron command is an immense privilege at any time, however, over the past two and a half years with the challenges of a global pandemic, an integrated review, and the withdrawal of Afghanistan after a 20-year campaign has required steadfast commitment, tenacity and professionalism and I’m extremely proud of the people who delivered success. Now it’s time for the baton to pass to Wing Commander Will Essex and I wish him all the best as he now leads the 99 Squadron family into the next adventure.”

“It is an absolute honour to take command of 99 Squadron.  Wing Commander Kev Latchman has done a brilliant job the last couple of years and I wish him well for the future.  These are exciting times with new capabilities being delivered on the aircraft and other challenges to overcome.  I’m thoroughly looking forward to working with all sections of 99 Squadron, and the wider Air Mobility Force, to keep delivering outstanding results for Defence.”
