Number 99 Squadron 'Orange Slog' Bike Ride for RAF100 from RAF Brize Norton to Landsmeer Holland

On the 29 April, a party of 11 personnel from No. 99 Squadron will undertake an event to cycle from RAF Brize Norton to Landsmeer in Holland, with an aim to arrive on the 5th May 2018.

This event is to commemorate a Wellington Bomber crew, of No. 99 Squadron, who crashed close to Landsmeer in the Netherlands on 29 September 1941. Additionally, the team will commemorate Dutch Remembrance Day.

The group are also celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Air Force (RAF100) and looking to raise charitable funds for the RAF100 charity appeal.

There will be 9 cyclists and 2 support personnel in a team consisting Pilots, Air Loadmasters and Engineers from No. 99 Squadron. Once in Landsmeer some of the team will take part in local ceremonial duties. The event will be known as “99 ORANGE SLOG FOR RAF 100” or simply “ORANGE SLOG”. 

The route for the ride will be taking to cyclists to RAF Odiham, Brompton Barracks, Dover, Calais, Bruges, Bergen op Zoom ending at Landsmeer.
