RAF Brize Norton Remembers

Today, hundreds of personnel from across RAF Brize Norton attended the Station’s Armistice Day Memorial Service held by Reverend (Wing Commander) Weir.

The service was held on the airfield outside the terminal where wreaths were laid by the Station Commander, Group Captain Flynn, Commander Air Wing, Group Captain Blackwell, and Deputy Air Mobility Force Commander, Group Captain Roberts. Chief Technician Hobson played the Last Post, which was followed by two minutes silence across the airfield; an opportunity to pause, reflect and honour those that have given their lives in the service of their country.

On Sunday the 14th November, Station Service personnel will be parading in Carterton town centre to mark remembrance and other personnel will be attending services held in the local villages across Oxfordshire.

“Armistice Day, the 11th of November, is so important because it is an opportunity to take the time out of our busy lives and to remember those who have served and the sacrifices they have given. It puts into reflection the service community, of which, we are a part, and the continual dedication that we have in order to continue the commitment of those in the past.”
