Women of the Future Awards

At the recent ‘Women of the Future Awards’ Flt Lt Laura Smith was shortlisted and highly commended for her unwavering commitment to her role within the RAF.

The ‘Women of the Future Awards’ provides a platform for successful young women in Britain and aims to unearth and recognise the inspirational stars of tomorrow across diverse sectors. Laura is currently a member of RAFOTA, where she guides and mentors cadets as a Deputy Squadron Commander and it is through her devotion supporting cadets through the MIOTC journey that she has been recognised.

In addition to her mentoring role at RAFOTA she has worked with the Female Engagement Teams on Op HERRICK and as the Regional Advisor for Eastern Europe specifically focussing on the integration of women into the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

OC RAFOTA commented ‘Laura is an inspiration to cadets, she is committed to bringing out the best in trainees and she especially encourages those who are less confident in their abilities, helping them achieve their true potential. She constantly challenges herself to make a difference and this special recognition is a true reflection of her dedication to those that serve’.
