RAF Honington have won the RAF Cup – the Keith Christie Trophy – in a 1-0 win against RAF Coningsby in the Final held on 24 June 2021 at the Oxford City Football Club.
Club OIC Plt Off Edmond said:
It was a gritty performance from Honington. Credit to Coningsby as we were on the back foot for parts of the game but we dug deep and a second half goal from Cpl Priddle secured the win. Every single player earned their place in the squad and deserved to win the RAF Cup, it was a great occasion for all. I have only recently taken over as OIC and I am already immensely proud of this group of lads as we have worked hard for each other and played some excellent football throughout. Our focus now moves to the start of the season in a few months where we will start building on this success.
Following their superb performance, Plt Off Edmond has been called up to represent the RAF in the forthcoming fixture in July and Cpl Balment, Cpl Oatley & SAC Cantley will be going to the RAF (U23) team trials.
